Drew's Honeymoon House Recap Episode 4 - Make Room for Guests

In last night’s episode of Drew’s Honeymoon HouseDrewJonathan and Linda worked on putting in some guest bedrooms and bathroom on the second floor and a guest suite on the first floor. The guest suite is taking place of the old kitchen, butler pantry and laundry room. It will have a bathroom and a small, yet fully functional, kitchen. The upstairs guest rooms are currently bedrooms with closets in between. The plan for that is to knock out the walk-in closets and put a Jack and Jill bathroom in between the rooms. This is what the space looked like before:

During the renovations in the guest suite, they have to have an abatement team come in because some of the walls contain lead. After that they find out that the floor joists are all rotted and have to be replaced. After that is finished they have They start to put in the insulation, foam insulation and the dry wall. The biggest issue they have with the kitchen in the guest suite is the lack of space. The key to this is putting in some great custom cabinets to make sure that there is enough storage in the space.

During the renovations, Jonathan and his girlfriend, Jacinta, go on a vacation to Africa and leave Drew and his team to run the show. This proves to be a mistake when Jonathan comes back and sees that a space where he wanted one of the windows was closed off. Drew is able to fix his mistake and opens it back up and puts in the window. Because the guest suite is going to be where Jonathan stays when he visits, Jonathan wants this space perfect.

Upstairs in the guest rooms, they found some great hardwood floors under the old carpet in one of the rooms, but they don’t keep them in the room because they don’t want to have different hardwood in the two rooms. Instead, they carefully pull the hardwood floors up and donate them so that someone else could use them. Linda was a little heartbroken about the flooring, but she felt better when Jonathan told her that he found a place to donate it all. She even helped him pull up the old flooring and after the new flooring was put in, she was pretty happy with it.

In the bathroom upstairs, Jonathan showed Linda how to install the tile flooring, she was then left to finish it off. Drew and Linda have wanted to be very hands on in this project, this is the house they are going to be living in for a long time after all. I really do love that they have made each of the rooms very different in this house. The big reveal is going to be for Jacinta this time around. Here is what the guest rooms looked like after the renovation:

For the most part, other than the rotted floor joists in the guest suite and the window that Drew accidentally covered up while Jonathan was on vacation, this project went pretty smoothly. There is plenty of space for Jonathan and Jacinta when they come visit along with Linda’s family when they come as well.

Let me know what you think of this space in the comments below, on Facebook or on Twitter! Make sure you come back next week for the Drew’s Honeymoon House finale where we get to see the entire house, inside and out, completely finished!
