Fixer Upper Recap: Season 4 Episode 16 – The Flipper Upper

Fixer Upper Recap Season 4 Episode 16 - The Flipper Upper

In this episode of Fixer Upper season 4, Chip and Joanna decide that they are just going to flip a house. After visiting their first flip house, which was their first home together, they have gotten the inspiration that they need to pick out the houses that they want to flip! After finding one house each, Chip proposes to Joanna that they make this a bit of a friendly competition. He wants to see which of their houses will be the better investment.

They each find a house, take a look at each of them and put in offers on both. Which even house they can get cheapest, they will flip! Both houses are around $80,000 and they both need a lot of work, but when Chip goes to the sellers and makes his offers of $60,000 on each, they counter offers were very different. The seller of Chip’s pick countered at $80,000, but the seller of Joanna’s pick countered at $65,000! Joanna won.

They are both really excited about this project, but it is going to be a lot of work! Check out these before pictures of the house that they are working on!

This is going to be a heck of a project, but they think they can do it. There have been a couple of issues with the house though. Chip found termites in the ceiling in one of the rooms and the roof is in pretty rough shape. They found a bubble in the ceiling in the living room, but luckily when they popped it, there was no water coming out of it. The sheet rock under the paint wasn’t all soggy and soft either. They saved a lot of money on this project because under all those nasty rugs, is some great hardwood floors.

They plan on taking all that ugly rock off the exterior of the house and Joanna found a great way to re-purpose some of that in the master bath! They ran into some wood floors in the master bed that are facing the wrong way so what they have decided to do is salvage some of it and then take up the planks that are facing the wrong way and then paint them so they are all the same color. That way they don’t have to waste a ton of time trying to find the same color stain or planks for the floor.

After everything was said and done and they spent $85,000 fixing it up, the house came out amazing! Are you ready to see the after pictures? Of course you are!
