House Hunters Recap: New Job, New Place in Dallas

House Hunters Recap: New Job, New Place in Dallas

Alesha just graduated to become a nurse. With graduation comes new career opportunities. In fact, this House Hunters follows Alesha as she moves from Augusta, GA to Dallas, Texas because of a new job. She believes the price market in Dallas is too expensive to rent, so she plans to buy a place.

Alesha is working with a massive budget for a recent college grad: $400,000. She’s hoping to keep it way under that price, but of course, we already know that probably won’t be the case.

Wish Lists:

Hers: Alesha wants a condo or loft that’s a contemporary model. She doesn’t want to have to do a lot of lawn maintenance, so a no fuss backyard is preferred. Aleshia wants a rooftop deck as her main source of outside entertainment.

She also wants a large, open kitchen with white cabinets and counters. Alesha also wants subway tiles, and three bedrooms and three bathrooms.

House #1, $468,000

House Hunters Recap: New Job, New Place in Dallas-1

The home is a new built with three bedrooms, and three and a half bathroom. It’s near downtown Dallas. The home is a very large townhouse with two floors of high ceilings. It’s really a lot of house with a large kitchen equipped with white cabinets and countertops.

The biggest issue with this space is the large backyard and no rooftop deck. The price is also a point of concern for Alesha.

House #2, $336,000

House Hunters Recap: New Job, New Place in Dallas-2

This home is a bit further from the city, but it also has a lot of space. It’s a single-family home that has been newly remodeled. The place contains four bedrooms and two bathroom. This place has a large master bedroom with an en suite.

Alesha doesn’t like that this place has a pool, because it’ll cause extra maintenance.

House #3, $425,000

House Hunters Recap: New Job, New Place in Dallas-3

This is the only home to have a rooftop deck. However, it’s right near a very busy street. Luckily, Alesha can’t hear it from the inside, but she does hear the noise on the roof. The extra area downstairs basically converts to a separate suite, which is ideal when Alesha invites guests to sleep over.

She also gets her large kitchen with white cabinets and countertops.

Decision Time:  Alesha’s real estate broker, Diedra, finds her three very beautiful places. They also manage to check most of Alesha’s wish list, so we had a hard time figuring out which house she’d pick. House #3 seemed great but Alesha seemed really bothered by the noise. House #2 seemed like the most sensible choice, and House #1 just seemed too over budget.

House Hunters Recap: New Job, New Place in Dallas-4

In the end, Alesha picks…House #1.

Diedra worked some magic because she got the price down to $420,000. This is still over Alesha’s budget but way closer to an ideal price.
