Liz and Jared aren’t complete opposite about their home needs and wants, they just have very specific needs. Jared’s priority is getting a recreational room that will display his sports memorabilia. Liz is all about the colonial style home.

Liz wants a separation between living room and sleeping quarters. She wants all the bedrooms on the second floor, and the dining room, kitchen, living room its own space on the first floor. They both want lots of open space.

His: Jared wants a smaller home than Liz to lower the heating and cooling bill. Jared wants his own rec room to entertain guests. He also wants a ranch style home. They both want a patio, large backyard, and a formal dining room.

This house has four bedrooms and two bathrooms. They both love the openness of the kitchen, but aren’t fans of the dark colors, especially on the cabinets and island. They’re about a 20 minute drive from Doylestown. The price is a little more than Jared wants to spend. They’re also not a fan of the wood burning fireplace and the master bathroom. However, they both love the basement that would become Jared’s rec room.

House #2, $350,000

It also has two bathrooms and four bedrooms. They felt this house was a little small, especially the bathrooms, kitchen, and living room. Jared and Liz both found the in-law suite interesting, and their realtor saw potential for it to become Jared’s rec room. They also liked the enclosed patio.

House #3, $479,000

This place was way out of budget, and Jared immediately thought it was too big. Liz didn’t like that the master bedroom was on the first floor, and how the master bathroom also had a closet for clothing in it. She loved the double, electric fireplace. The basement was a big let down because it was unfinished. Jared and Liz also didn’t like that their backyard is directly across from a cemetery.

The obvious choice seems like house number one because it most closely fits each of their requests. Also the issues seem minor compared to the other two homes.

In the end, Liz and Jared pick house #1. They fix their kitchen issues by repainting the cabinets from black to white. They also repaint a few rooms.
