House Hunters Recap: A Tiny House Adventure

House Hunters Recap: A Tiny House AdventureJason lives in suburban Colorado, Canon City, Co, and works at a nonprofit law firm. Now he wants to embrace a life full of adventure by selling his home, getting his dog Juniper along for the ride, and buying a tiny home to travel the world. Before Jason can embark on his new journey, he needs House Hunters and his dad’s help find his ideal tiny home.

Jason has a budget of $70,000 and only wants to spend between $400 and $500 a month in rental space.

Wishlists

His: Jason wants a modern rustic style tiny home. He wants it to have solar panels or the capability of having them. He wants a composting toilet. The tiny home needs to have at least 200 sq ft, stairs, a loft, and plenty of space for guests and storage. Jason also wants full size appliances and a dedicated office space. Additionally, he would like to be able to bring his motorcycle with him.

House #1, $69,000

House Hunters Recap: A Tiny House Adventure-11

This home has 352 sq ft. It has a copper and grey theme running through it. This theme is first seen on the exterior and then appears in the backsplash. It has plenty of tall windows to add natural lighting. There are lots of cabinets for extra storage. This tiny home has a full size kitchen with new stainless steel appliances and a large island.

The loft areas are small, because they could only fit basically a mattress, and not much else. Though the home is mainly ready to go, the customizations that Jason would need for it would take it over his $70,000 budget.

House #2, $65,000

House Hunters Recap: A Tiny House Adventure-2

This home is 304 sq ft. It has the capability to have solar panels and that’s one of the design features. This home also has a full size, new kitchen. It has some interesting storage space underneath the stairs. The under the stairs area also pulls out into a small workspace. It has french door which makes it easier for Jason to get his motorcycle in the place.

It has a rustic look, and plenty of cabinets and storage space. It also has a pull out bed that is located right below the entertainment center. The lofts are large enough to fit a large mattress and some extras. It also includes a composting toilet, a skylight, and lots of natural light.

House #3, $60,000

House Hunters Recap: A Tiny House Adventure-3

This home is still being built, so it’s missing some of the key features. It also seems limited on the customizations. This tiny home is 264 sq ft. It has plenty of space for Jason’s motorcycle and a little space for an office. It doesn’t have stairs but a steep ladder.

The loft area is very spacious and it has modern appliances. However, the toilet is more rustic than composting.

Decision Time: House #3 seemed too basic and limiting, but it had most of the things on Jason’s wish lists. House #2 seemed to fit Jason’s needs the most, but it might be too small. House #1 would be overpriced with all the customizable features that he wanted. But it was the most spacious of his choices.

House Hunters Recap: A Tiny House Adventure-4

Jason picked…House #2.

He ended up paying $68,100 instead of $65,000 to add his customizable features. He added a ramp for his motorcycle and solar panels. Jason hasn’t started his adventure yet, and he’s been parked at his dad’s home, but plans to make New Mexico his first stop.
