They both had three children from previous marriages, and these children just happen to match up in age and be opposite genders. The children are Grace, Grant, Lexi, Marcus, Lizzy, and James. House Hunters Family will follow the Stepans around as they look for a home big enough for their blended family.

They have a budget between $500,000 and $600,000. Micah is a real estate agent, so she’ll be doubling as a buyer and a tour guide.

Wish List

The Stepans want a home with at least 4,500 sq ft. Each child wants their own room. Micah and Chris need some high-end finishes and a private backyard. The children want their own floor away from the parents, and the girls want a space away from the boys.

House #1, $599,000

House Hunters Family Season 2 Episode 8 Recap: Going Big in Salt Lake City, UT-1

This is a new construction home with a red door. It has seven bedrooms, and three and a half bathrooms on 4,700 sq ft. The home has an open floor plan with large windows and speakers on the ceiling. This place really has some high ceilings with a big island and a dark kitchen. This home has multiple stories, so the girls’ room would be on the top floor, and the boys could take the bottom floor.

This home has lots of windows for natural light. It has a large, dark kitchen with a big island. The kids’ rooms are big, but the master bedroom was very small. The grand master bathroom makes up for what the bedroom lacks. The backyard is unfinished but large.

House #2, $615,000

House Hunters Family Season 2 Episode 8 Recap: Going Big in Salt Lake City, UT-2

This home has five bedrooms, and three and a half bathrooms. This means that some of the children would need to share rooms. It has been newly remodeled with bright colors. It has a separate, top level kitchen area. The place has a cozy living room with a fireplace. Grant and Grace would get the rooms in the finished basement. It looks like a separate apartment area with lounge space, a bathroom, and a mini-fridge.

The first kid’s room is very large, with an extra sitting area. The second kid’s room is much smaller, but big enough to share. The master suite is very large and the bathroom looks like a spa. This home has a finished backyard.

House #3, $550,000

House Hunters Family Season 2 Episode 8 Recap: Going Big in Salt Lake City, UT-4This home is close to the mountains and it’s a custom home. It has six bedrooms and five bathrooms. Two children would need to share. It has a huge family room with high ceilings and a fireplace. It has a large kitchen with a large island. There is an office that can be converted to a bedroom. The master bedroom and bathroom are both big.

There is a bonus area that could be finished and turned into an additional room. The place has a beautiful patio and backyard.

Decision Time: House #3 needed too much remodeling, House #2 was way over budget, and House #1 was missing a finished yard. They had a tough decision to make.

The Stepans picked…House #2.

They paid the $615,000 asking price.
