Flip or Flop Vegas Season 2 Episode 11 Recap: Urban Art Condo

Bristol and Aubrey embrace their urban artistic side on this week’s Flip or Flop Vegas. The pair decide to head downtown for a condo property; the place doesn’t have much damage, so it only needs some slight changes. It’s a small condo with only about 700 sq ft, one bedroom, and one bathroom.

Aubrey believes that to create a true authentic downtown Vegas home, they need to make it a bit hipster, a bit artsy. The owner is asking $120,000 for the place, but Bristol and Aubrey suspect multiple buyers will be bidding for this one so they place a bid of $122,000.

They get it at that price and begin working. During the first day of renovations, Bristol’s crew is off at another work location, so he enlists his nephew and assistant for help. The plans for the home include removing a wall to expand the kitchen area and shifting the location of the bedroom door.

Aubrey also wants to make this place super unique by having a mural painted on the back wall of the bedroom. They keep the color scheme neutral by making grey walls, white cabinets, and grey tiles placed throughout. Aubrey plans to add the color with their staging. In the bathroom, they add a double sink and a glassy mosaic tile to the shower.

The big purchase item for this week is paying the artist to paint the mural. Aubrey works out a deal with a local artist named Donovan. He agrees to accept a $1,000 pay for one single day of work. They discuss doing a feminine figure surrounded by birds or butterflies.

Bristol is a little apprehensive about paying a $1,000 for a mural, but changes his mind once he sees it. They manage to stick with their under two-weeks deadline but go over budget by about $2,300. In total they spend $12,300 on renovations.

All the colors do give the place a little more life, but Aubrey doesn’t seem to stick with one story with the staging. The most consistent element is the gorgeous artwork placed throughout. The way Aubrey, Bristol, and crew center the mural, so that it’s directly in center when you open the bedroom doors, is a smart move, because it elevates the mural even more.

The mural is gorgeous. It’s a bit of an odd choice for a home and bedroom, but definitely something that makes the place unique and will draw in creative buyers.
