Fixer Upper Recap: Season 4 Episode 2 – Classic Cutie or Modern Mod?

Fixer Upper Recap Season 4 Episode 2 - Classic Cutie or Modern Mod

This episode of Fixer Upper season 4 revolves around the Morgan family who need a bigger house for them, their son and newly adopted daughters. Joanna and Chip show them two houses, one of them is a classic house built in 1950 and it seems to really fit the “farm style” home that Annabeth Morgan wants. The house needs some improvements including opening up the kitchen and the stairs and some exterior additions.

The second house is a little modern for Annabeth’s liking, it is big, but not very open. The kitchen is super small, but there is a dining area right next to it and Joanna tells them that she can open up the kitchen for her, Annabeth is super nervous about this idea. The backyard is the backyard of Keith’s dreams. In the end, Annabeth isn’t really sold on either house, but they have decided that they will talk about it and pick one of the two houses.

After realizing that the modern house is a better deal because it is in a great school district and a desirable area, Annabeth and Keith decide to go with that house. Annabeth tells Chip that she is a little nervous about it, but she tells them she trusts them. These are some pictures of what the house looks like before the Gaines’ get in there!

Joanna and Annabeth sit down and talk about the design ideas and Annabeth seems like she is really opening up to the idea of living in a modern home, but having some rustic and farmhouse updates done to it. Joanna also has a surprise up her sleeve and she runs it by Chip. She tells him that she would really like to do something special for the kids rooms and Chip uses this as an opportunity for some friendly competition.

Chip and Joanna each chose a kids room, Chip chooses the girls room and enlists his daughter’s for help and Joanna takes the boys room and enlists her sons for help. At the end, the kids will vote on which rooms they like best and whoever wins gets to run the next design all by themselves! In the end, Chip and Joanna tie when their sons and daughters split their votes for both rooms.

Both rooms came out amazing and when it’s time for the big reveal, I have to admit, even I cried a little bit. I was blown away by how they were able to turn this modern home into a little rustic, country home. I’m sure you are all waiting for pictures! Here you go!
